"Pon Para and the Great Southern Labyrinth" is an interactive Bronze Age fantasy novel by Kyle Marquis, the first game in the Pon Para trilogy, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based--430,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
Years ago, in the Behemoth War, the forces of evil tried to destroy the world with Raun, the dark axe of destruction. Your parents united with King Hyras to win the Behemoth War and save the kingdom, becoming legendary heroes.
You have been raised far from the intrigues and corruption of the great cities–and from the plots of the gods. But after twenty years of peace, the pirate king Lord Vankred has found Raun. Under the threat of war, the gods grant you their powers. You must find the mad King Hyras and defeat Vankred before he can assassinate the King and shatter the Three Nations.
But the gods have their own plans for you, and so does the secret master of the Great Southern Labyrinth.

Honestly...worth the money. Im usually very picky with paying COG seeing as there are so many I wanted to read, yet this is the only book I didn't hesitate to pay fully for book 1, and 2, and book 3 if it's already out. I cannot wait for the third installment of the trilogy.
Ok i tried to read the story. And i have to say that too many jargons. Even with codex(encyclopedia). The use of such jargons make it very diffcult to read or play. I have played more than 50 games of this type by choices and hosted. And i say If you dont keep easy language, we loss intrest because in world of graphics and short span of attention. Reading is already painful. But if you keep story engaging, easy to understand it is fun experience. You made it unreadable and painful.
Honestly this is to me one of the better choice of games out there, the world building for a choice game is phenomenal, and I really enjoy the codex as a reference to go always go back to as the story grows. It really allows you to immerse yourself in the world. The quests and battles are very engaging and add to the story greatly, and the diverse cast of characters all with their own motivations and complex morals make for a great interactive read. Definitely recommend this one.
Regarding Pon Para Series...Exceptionally and Masterfully Written Tale! I have all Bestselling Choice of Games and Hosted Games. And as much as I adore so many...This series has me captivated and wanting more. I would cry because the 3rd gamebook is not yet out if I wasn't so numbed up with Bailey's Irish Cream and Butterscotch Schnapps. Please hurry, dear author.

I'm giving this a 5 star bcuz of how well written both the plot and the gameplay is. My only problem is that it's unclear which attribute and profession is actually needed for some of the choices. Other than that, it was a great read!
