On Halloween night a scarecrow with a carved jack-o'-lantern for a head looms over a dead cornfield, black against an enormous harvest moon. A crooked dead tree claws at the sky, fog creeps between the pumpkins at its feet, and far off an abandoned farmhouse shows one lit window.
Three ways to tell the time
- Numerals in the night sky: the hour to the left of the moon, the minutes to the right, glowing in the colour of the fire.
- Numerals on the moon: dark numerals either side of the scarecrow's hat.
- Hands: two thin, crooked black hands turning on the scarecrow's chest, with twelve marks round the rim.
The hour follows your watch's 12- or 24-hour setting.
Your information hangs on the pumpkins
The three pumpkins at the scarecrow's feet carry wooden tags: steps on the left, unread notifications on the front one and battery on the right, daubed in dark paint. The date is painted on the board nailed to its stake.
What moves
- Each minute the candle inside the pumpkin head gutters.
- On the hour a flock of crows bursts up out of the cornfield and wheels past the moon, fire blazes in the scarecrow's eyes and grin, and its hat hops off its head as a bat flies out from under it.
- Tap the scarecrow's head and its hat hops, and the bat flies out.
- On Halloween night, from 6 pm to 6 am, the crows come out every quarter hour, and from midnight to one the moon turns blood-red.
- In always-on mode the moon dims to a faint disc with the scarecrow black against it; only the carved face, the time, the date, your steps and your battery stay lit, to save power.
Make it yours

- Fire: candle gold, witch green, ghost blue or ember red; the glow in the scarecrow's head and round the sky numerals takes the same colour.
- Hat hop on waking: the hat also hops each time your watch wakes (off by default).
- Three complications on the pumpkins' tags: steps, unread notifications and battery by default. Choose other data for any of them in the watch face editor.
