"Point your satellite dish right: angles, map line, Sun shadow and live compass"
Sobre este app
Satellite Finder helps you set up a satellite TV dish yourself: it tells you exactly where to point it from where you stand, and gives you several ways to get there, not just a compass.
Choose your satellite, and the app shows the three numbers every installer needs: azimuth (which way to turn the dish), elevation (how far to tilt it up) and LNB skew (how far to rotate the LNB). Your position comes from GPS, or you can type it in.
FIND YOUR SATELLITE
• Search by satellite name, orbital position or TV provider
• Satellites you can receive from your spot are listed first, highest in the sky on top; ones too low or below your horizon are marked
• Covers the main DTH and free-to-air TV positions for India, Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey, the Middle East and Europe
• Not in the list? Enter any orbital position, east or west
FOUR WAYS TO AIM
• Map: a line on the satellite map shows where the dish must face. Pick a building or tree on that line and aim at it: no compass needed
• Sun shadow: the app tells you the moment the Sun lines up with your satellite. A stick's shadow then marks the exact direction
• Live compass: hold the phone flat and turn until it says On target. Magnetic declination is corrected with the World Magnetic Model
• Elevation meter: hold the phone against the dish and the app tells you to tilt up or down, with a setting for offset dishes
A COMPASS YOU CAN TRUST
Phone compasses go wrong near metal, magnets and cables, and most apps never tell you. Satellite Finder checks the magnetic field against the model for your location and asks you to calibrate (figure 8) when the reading cannot be trusted, instead of pointing you the wrong way.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
From a vertical pole to the final fine-tuning with your receiver's signal quality screen, plus a checklist for when there is no signal.
IN YOUR LANGUAGE
English, Bahasa Indonesia, Português (Brasil), Türkçe and हिन्दी.
GOOD TO KNOW
• No ads, no account, no sign-up.
• The angles, the compass, the Sun method and the elevation meter work without internet. The map needs a connection.
• A phone cannot measure the satellite signal itself. The app gets your dish within a few degrees; the last step is done with the signal quality screen of your receiver or a signal meter.
• Satellite list: Wikipedia contributors, CC BY-SA 4.0. Magnetic model: World Magnetic Model 2025 (NOAA / BGS).
